Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our innovative and growing healthcare team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with advanced contactless monitoring technology that enhances your ability to provide exceptional patient care under the guidance of expert pulmonologists.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Evaluate patients with respiratory conditions in a skilled nursing facility setting, develop and adjust individualized treatment plans, provide respiratory therapy treatments, administer medications and oxygen therapy, perform diagnostic tests (spirometry, arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing), monitor patients’ vital signs and response to therapy, and provide emergency care such as CPR and airway management.

  • Equipment Management: Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment (mechanical ventilators, CPAP machines, etc), inspect, test, and clean equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation, troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems, and order repairs as needed.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care, communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members, and educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques and disease management.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and complete patient records, follow specified treatment parameters, adhere to facility policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards of practice.

  • Professional Development: Participate in orientation and continuing education programs, stay updated on the latest developments in respiratory care, and contribute to the professional development of yourself and facility staff.

  • Safety & Quality Assurance: Demonstrate safe working practices, use appropriate protective equipment, participate in quality improvement programs, and identify and correct safety hazards in the work environment.

Requirements

  • Education & Certification: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy (required). Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), current state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist, and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification (preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in respiratory care (preferred), with experience in acute care, intensive care, or long-term care settings being advantageous.

  • Skills & Knowledge: Strong knowledge of pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitation, proficiency in using respiratory therapy equipment, in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the cardiopulmonary system, competence in EMR and computer literacy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.

  • Physical & Emotional Demands: Good physical and emotional health, ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients, and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

  • Compliance: Physical Exam and 2-Step PPD or Chest X-ray.
