Essential Job functions

  • Prepares and injects radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and department policies.

  • Measures concentrations of radioactive isotope in specific body areas to obtain information for use by the Radiologists in diagnosing patients’ illness.

  • Performs cardiac nuclear studies including stress MUGA,Thalliumand non-gated Technetium studies.Assistsphysician with procedures asrequired

  • Gives reports tophysicianfor review/interpretation within thetime framespecified by the department.

  • Programs computerfor each procedure.

  • Documents reason fortestand any known allergies.

  • Employs proper aseptic techniques in IV insertion and administration.

  • Manages nuclear schedule for bestutilizationof time, patientflowand patient needs.

  • Performs daily/weekly quality assurance procedures,calibrationand flood analysis on the equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines.

  • Troubleshoots minor problems, reports other problems and those requiring repair service to Supervisor of Cardiology Techs, Clinical Manager and Physician.

  • Performs cardiac nuclear studies including stress MUGA,Thalliumand non-gated Technetium studies.Assistsphysician with procedures asrequired

  • Acquiresclear images appropriate for the studies.  Accurately gates the study whenrequired

  • Performs departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation standards for SMG, NRC, and EPA.

  • Follows proper procedures for spill anddecontamination;reportscontamination toappropriate authoritiesand regulatory commissions.

  • Orders and logsappropriate informationregardingreceipt of radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals and dispose of radioisotopes according to industry standards and regulations.

  • Updates nuclear Policies and Procedures to reflect current techniques and best practices.

  • Adheres to the nuclear/ProSolvworkflow including preparing the preliminary report for the Cardiologist.

  • Archives images according to SMG procedure.

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GEDrequiredAssociates orBachelor’sdegree preferred.

  • BLS certificationrequired

  • 0 – 1yearsexperience 2-4years experiencepreferred.

  •  IV Certificationrequired ARRT or CMNTrequired

  • ARRT (CT) Certificationrequired

  • Ability to perform nuclear medicine procedures.

  • Ability to prepare and inject radioactive isotopes

  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writingrequired

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skillsrequired

  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracyrequired

  • Ability to use problem solving, criticalthinkingand priority setting skillsrequired

  • Experience with Imaging Equipment, Dose Calibrator, GeigercountercutiepieCGMmeterpreferred.

  • Experience with Well & Probe Uptake System and Lead Syringe Shields & Lab Coats preferred.

  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.

  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.


Pay Range: $46.73 - $58.41 Hourly

The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
