Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) is seeking an experienced People, Safety and Capability Manager to help lead our People and Safety portfolio within a complex, high-risk and 24/7 operational environment.
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will provide strong technical and strategic leadership across workplace health and safety while contributing to employee relations, workers compensation, injury management, leadership development and organisational capability.
This is an influential role for a practical and credible safety leader who can work confidently with executives, operational leaders and employees to deliver strong and sustainable people and safety outcomes.
As the People, Safety and Capability Manager, you will lead the continued development of VICT’s workplace health and safety framework, systems and governance arrangements.
You will provide trusted advice to the Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Leadership Team and operational leaders, supporting them to identify and manage risk, strengthen safety performance and maintain accountability for the safety and performance of their teams.
Beyond safety, you will act as a senior adviser across complex people matters, workers compensation, injury management, organisational capability and workforce development. You will also contribute to executive and Board reporting, strategic planning and broader People and Safety priorities.
This role provides the opportunity to influence safety culture and organisational performance across Operations, Engineering and corporate functions while helping build leadership capability and succession depth within the People and Safety team.
You are an experienced safety leader who understands the realities of working in a complex operational environment. You combine strong technical knowledge with commercial judgement, practical problem-solving and the confidence to influence and challenge at all levels.

After winning the international bid, Victoria International Container Terminal Limited (VICT) signed on 2 May 2014 an agreement with the Port of Melbourne Corporation for the design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and financing of the Port of Melbourne’s new international container terminal and empty container park at Webb Dock.
The agreement will deliver a global standard in modern container terminal design, innovation and operations, and will become the flagship facility in Australia’s premier port.
VICT is 100 percent owned by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI). The project marks ICTSI’s first entry into Australia.
The contract grants VICT the rights to design, build and operate the new terminal at Webb Dock and design, build and operate the new, on-port Empty Container Park at Webb Dock East. The lease concession extends to 2040.
VICT’s development for Webb Dock Container Terminal utilises the best-proven technologies and innovations to deliver fully-automated operations from the gate to the quayside.
