Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a People Partner

  • Be a trusted adviser to senior leaders in the Finance function, building strong relationships and translating business priorities into practical people solutions.
  • Make a meaningful impact, helping shape and deliver people initiatives that bring our people strategy to life.

What's the role?

As a People Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor to leaders across our Finance business, helping shape and deliver people initiatives that bring our people strategy to life.

You’ll build strong relationships, get to know the business and its people, and connect business and financial priorities with practical, people-focused solutions. Using data, insights and your own judgement, you’ll help leaders anticipate workforce needs, navigate change and build strong, capable teams.

Working closely with Heads of People, Senior People Partners and our Centres of Expertise, you’ll bring thoughtful advice, coaching and constructive challenge, helping leaders make confident decisions that balance our people, business and risk priorities.

You’ll also:

  • Support workforce planning, organisational design and change initiatives.
  • Use data and insights to identify emerging workforce opportunities and risks.
  • Coach leaders to strengthen leadership capability and accountability.
  • Bring together expertise from across the People function to support leaders and their teams.
  • Apply sound judgement across complex people matters, considering risk, policy and regulatory requirements.

What do I need?

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re an experienced People Partner who is commercially minded, curious about the business and genuinely enjoys getting underneath what matters to leaders and their teams.

You’ll be confident building strong relationships with senior leaders across Finance, asking the right questions and looking beyond the immediate people need to understand the bigger picture.

You’ll think ahead, bring a clear point of view and turn your people expertise into practical solutions that create genuine impact.

You’ll bring strength across:

  • Strategic and commercial thinking, connecting people priorities with business and financial outcomes.
  • Influence and constructive challenge, bringing confidence and fresh thinking to complex conversations.
  • Workforce planning and organisational design, anticipating capability needs as the business evolves.
  • Change and transformation, helping leaders and teams navigate change with clarity and confidence.
  • Data and insights, using evidence to identify trends, opportunities and emerging workforce risks.
  • People and regulatory risk, applying sound judgement to complex decisions and supporting strong governance.
