Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newcastle-Under-Lyme to assist with the appointment of a People Partner, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £19.31 - £25.88 per hour

The People Partner will provide high-quality HR advice and support across a range of employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with employment law, HR policies, and best practice. The role will focus on managing disciplinary, grievance, capability, and attendance cases, supporting managers with complex people issues, updating HR policies, and promoting a positive workplace culture. This role does not involve major project work and requires a strong operational HR professional with a solid employee relations background.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance management, and performance issues.
  • Support managers to ensure HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation are applied consistently.
  • Lead and manage disciplinary and other employee relations cases through to resolution.
  • Review, update, and maintain HR policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practice.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Trade Unions.

Qualifications:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) is essential.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience providing HR advice on employee relations matters, particularly disciplinary, grievance, capability, and attendance management.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience updating and developing HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience working effectively with Trade Unions.
  • Ability to interpret HR data and support evidence-based decision making.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
