Job Description

Title: People Operations & Systems Lead

Experience: 4-8 years of experience; prior exposure to the social sector is a plus.

Location: Remote, with up to 30% travel to the Igatpuri headquarters or residential campuses whenever required.

NavGurukul is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to create access to aspirational careers for students from marginalised communities. We are looking for someone who can anchor the organization's Head, Heart and Hand together through our People and Culture function.

What you’ll do in this role:
  1. Run smooth people operations: Lead end-to-end HR operations including travel, HRMS, asset management, compliance, and reporting to keep the organisation running seamlessly.

  2. Build simple and fair systems: Design strong operational processes and policies that are easy to understand, practical to execute, and fair to everyone. Apply systems thinking to connect processes, identify gaps, and ensure everything works together efficiently.

  3. Bring data and patterns to life: Manage HRMS and dashboards to surface insights, spot trends, and support smarter people decisions.

  4. Simplify, streamline, and get things done: Spot inefficiencies, question complex ways of working, and implement practical improvements across HR and people systems.

  5. Enable thoughtful, empathetic decisions: Support the PnC team and leadership with balanced decisions that consider both individual well-being and organisational priorities.

  4. Gets things done with street-smarts, follow-through, and ownership—nothing falls through the cracks and even if it falls- knows it's okay to fall and pick it up:)

  5. Loves to question the usual, streamline systems, and innovate better ways of working

  6. Can balance operational efficiency with fairness and sensitivity in people-facing processes

Qualifications we’re looking for:
  1. 4-8 years of experience, preferably in the social sector or at a start-up, managing organisation development and/or HR. Different people have different journeys and experience preference is a loosely held opinion. Don’t let upper or lower limit be a barrier if everything else matches up

  2. Experience in HRMS, compliance, or travel/logistics operations is a plus.

Compensation and Commitment:

This is a full-time, remote role. NavGurukul offers compensation in the range of 5-7 LPA, aligned with most non-profits in India, based on your skills and experience, while ensuring internal parity.
As a non-profit, our salary structure is typically lower than corporate roles, and candidates may need to consider an approximate 50–60% adjustment from their current compensation.
