About the role

You will lead and deliver across:

This is not a purely strategic or advisory HR role You will lead and personally deliver People & Culture across the organisation, with a strong focus on:

  • Talent acquisition – staff & volunteers – Lead hands-on, end-to-end recruitment, proactive sourcing and talent pipelines to build the workforce needed for our growth.
  • Learning & development – Identify capability needs, develop practical learning solutions and personally facilitate training and workshops for staff, volunteers and leaders.
  • Onboarding & employee experience – Strengthen induction, onboarding, probation, engagement and retention.
  • Capability & performance – Coach managers to build capability, recognise great performance and confidently address underperformance.
  • People & culture – Continue embedding our Values and Behaviours and strengthen a connected, accountable and high-performing culture.
  • Employee relations & compliance – Provide practical advice and maintain contemporary, compliant and audit-ready people practices.
  • Workforce planning, WHS & wellbeing – Partner with leaders to support workforce sustainability, safety and wellbeing.

You will lead a small team and work closely with managers and teams across FOCUS Connect.

About you

You are an experienced and passionate P&C professional who gets energy from making things happen You can think strategically, but you're equally comfortable recruiting for a vacancy, facilitating a training session, coaching a manager or improving a people process.

Most importantly, you genuinely enjoy finding great people and developing the people already within the organisation.

You bring:

  • 5+ years’ HR/People & Culture experience, preferably within Home Care, Aged Care, Community Services or a similar service-based or regulated environment
  • Strong hands-on recruitment and talent acquisition experience
  • Demonstrated training, facilitation and workforce development capability
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and modern awards (SCHADS highly regarded)
  • Experience across ER, performance, workers’ compensation, onboarding and compliance
  • A relevant HR/IR/Business qualification.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville. Together, we are committed to improving the health outcomes for children today and in the future.

In 2016–17, more than 85,654 children attended our Emergency Department, 322,291 specialist clinic appointments were held which was almost 70,000 more than the previous year, more than 17,000 surgeries were performed and more than 48,552 children were admitted to our wards.
