People & Culture GeneralistThis is a fixed term position through to July, 2027 and will be located at site in Sherwood, Saskatchewan. Shifts will be 5 days on and 2 days off.

Candidates local to the area would be preferred as LOA, project uplift or Camp access will NOT be provided

The People & Culture Generalist plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a large-scale construction project in Regina, Saskatchewan. This role will provide the full-spectrum of People & Culture support and partners closely with the project leadership team to drive workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, and engagement initiatives.

Working in a fast-paced, site-based setting, the P&C Generalist fosters a positive, inclusive and supportive culture, supports leaders and employees through all stages of the employee lifecycle and ensures consistent application of policies.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Act as a trusted advisor to project leadership, providing guidance on People & Culture policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Support the execution of People & Culture strategies aligned with project timelines, workforce demands, and operational priorities.

  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure alignment of workforce strategies with project delivery.

  • Support workforce planning activities, including forecasting, mobilization, and demobilization for project phases.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to coordinate recruitment efforts for project-specific positions.

  • Collaborate with the national People & Culture Operations team to support internal mobility ensuring a positive ongoing employee experience.

  • Assist with onboarding and orientation processes to ensure a strong start for new hires in a project environment

  • Ensure all required onboarding forms are completed by employees, kept up to date with payroll records, and regularly verified for accuracy.

  • Assist with the offboarding of employees as per company process including asset retrieval and departure interviews.

  • Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance concerns.

  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and psychological safety across the project.

  • Partner with HSE to support People & Culture related safety documentation, including return-to-work programs and workers’ compensation processes.

  • Support engagement initiatives and recognition programs that reflect Bird’s values.

  • Coach leaders on performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and development planning.

  • Support the administration of mid-year and year-end career discussions for project staff.

  • Identify training and development needs and coordinate and assist with facilitating learning opportunities where appropriate.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, collective agreements (if applicable), and company policies.

  • Maintain accurate employee records and support People & Culture data integrity within systems such as Workday and Tracker.

  • Assist with reporting and metrics related to headcount, turnover, and other key People & Culture indicators.

  • Support organizational change initiatives related to project ramp-up, restructuring, or workforce transitions.

  • Reinforce Bird Construction’s culture, values, and leadership expectations throughout the employee lifecycle.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of People & Culture processes within a project-based environment.

  • Attend local events such as recruitment and community events at local colleges and universities.

  • Assist with other project or People & Culture initiatives as required.

What We Are Looking For

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • CPHR designation (or working toward) is considered an asset.

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in construction, industrial, or project-based environments.

  • Experience supporting large-scale construction or infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to operate effectively in a field-based, operational environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

  • Sound judgment and ability to navigate complex or sensitive situations with discretion.

  • High level of adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving project environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities aligned with project phases.
