About us

Tom Wood was founded in Norway in 2013 and has since grown into an internationally recognised jewellery brand, known for distinctive design and a conscious approach to materials and production.

What started in Oslo is today an international organisation of around 100 colleagues across Oslo, Tokyo, Osaka, Barcelona and Copenhagen. We have our headquarters and one retail store in Oslo, as well as four retail locations in Japan.

We are now looking for a People & Culture Director to join our team for a maternity leave cover.

About the role

As People & Culture Director, you will have overall responsibility for Tom Wood’s People & Culture function and for delivering on our established People & Culture strategy. You will play a key role in strengthening leadership and organisational capabilities as the company continues to grow internationally.

You will act as a trusted advisor to the Management Group and leaders across the company, combining senior-level guidance with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach. You will support our leaders in creating clarity, accountability and ownership within their teams, while driving organisational development across the company.

You will lead an international People & Culture team of three, with two colleagues based in Norway and one in Japan. You will also own recruitment processes across the organisation and use People data and insights to guide priorities, track progress and identify opportunities for improvement.

The position reports directly to the CEO and is based at Tom Wood HQ in Oslo, Grünerløkka. This is a temporary position covering maternity leave, lasting through February 2028.

Key responsibilities

  • Translate the established People & Culture strategy into clear plans, initiatives and measurable outcomes
  • Act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner to the Management Group and leaders across the organisation
  • Strengthen leadership capabilities, with an emphasis on clarity, accountability, feedback and development
  • Drive organisational development and workforce planning in line with business priorities
  • Strengthen performance and development practices across the organisation
  • Support a consistent Tom Wood culture and employee experience across functions and markets, while allowing for relevant local adaptation
  • Use People data and KPIs to monitor progress, inform decisions and support strong employee engagement and organisational health
  • Advise on compensation matters and contribute to fair and sustainable compensation practices
  • Own recruitment processes across the organisation and work closely with hiring managers throughout each process, with particular involvement in critical and senior hires
  • Ensure clear direction, priorities and effective collaboration across the People & Culture team
  • Hold overall responsibility for People & Culture in Japan, working closely with the local HR resource and leadership team

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has 3+ years of experience in a senior People & Culture or HR leadership role, ideally at Head of People & Culture or Director level
  • Has experience within leadership development, organisational development and workforce planning
  • Has solid knowledge of Norwegian employment law and experience advising leaders on employment-related matters
  • Has experience using People data and KPIs to guide priorities and evaluate outcomes
  • Combines strategic thinking with a pragmatic and hands-on approach when needed
  • Has experience leading and developing a People & Culture team
  • Communicates clearly and builds strong relationships across functions, roles and cultures
  • Is fluent in English and at least one Scandinavian language
  • Experience from a growing international organisation or retail environment is a plus
