Job Description

ABOUT US

Slattery Grays Auctions is proudly Australia's largest national family-owned auction company, a leading auction and valuation practice. With over 15 sites across Australia, we specialise in automotive, road transport, earthmoving, mining, marine, and aviation asset advisory and disposal services.

At Slattery Grays, our values aren't just words on a wall - they shape how we work every day. We back our people, building genuine relationships and standing by each other. We pursue excellence in everything from customer service to the way we innovate and improve. We do the right thing, earning trust through integrity and accountability. And because great results come from great teams, we make sure we enjoy the ride along the way.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the People & Culture Business Partner and based at our Pinkenba site, the People & Culture Coordinator keeps the day-to-day operations of our People & Culture function running smoothly across the business. You'll look after HR administration, systems and data, payroll support and onboarding, and be a friendly first point of contact for employees and people leaders. You'll also take ownership of our HR systems and help shape how P&C works as we continue to grow.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension, or even a permanent position. It's a hybrid role with flexibility, and you'll join a P&C team that works hard but also knows how to have fun and share a laugh together.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Act as system owner and super-user for our HRIS and Culture Amp, keeping employee records accurate and up to date
  • Prepare and deliver regular P&C reporting, including headcount, turnover, workforce demographics and compliance metrics, and build dashboards that give leaders clear insights
  • Provide end-to-end support across the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment to offboarding, making sure paperwork, system set-up and records are completed accurately and on time
  • Own the design and continuous improvement of our onboarding and offboarding processes, creating a positive experience for new starters and leavers
  • Prepare and issue employment-related correspondence, including employment letters, contract variations and other ER/IR documentation as required
  • Prepare and submit accurate payroll inputs, applying Modern Award, NES and contractual entitlements
  • Support employees and leaders with general queries relating to employment conditions, policies and procedures, escalating complex employee relations, grievance, disciplinary, performance, termination or legislative matters to the People & Culture Lead
  • Maintain our policy library and track key compliance requirements, including probation reviews, right-to-work checks, licences and mandatory training
  • Collaborate with the wider P&C team on initiatives that nurture a positive, inclusive culture reflecting Slattery Grays values, boosting engagement, retention and a high-performance workforce
  • Champion the use of AI and technology to make P&C processes simpler and smarter
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to our HR Administrator

ABOUT YOU

You are a highly organised, proactive HR professional who thrives in a busy environment. You manage your time well, stay across the detail, and enjoy finding better ways to get things done.

You will bring:

  • 3+ years' experience in an HR coordinator, people operations or HR generalist role
  • Experience using an HRIS (Employment Hero is preferable)
  • A sound working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and NES
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload effectively, with excellent time management and practical prioritisation
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills and the confidence to turn data into clear insights
  • Experience preparing payroll inputs
  • Clear, friendly communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion at all times
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline (preferred)

BENEFITS & PERKS

We offer hybrid working with flexibility, stocked pantry with Friday site team lunches, free onsite parking, $40 monthly staff voucher, free EAP program, novated lease and superannuation salary sacrifice.
