About the Role

As the People & Culture Coordinator, you'll provide the day-to-day people coordination that helps RSPCA Queensland's workforce deliver services for animals across our shelters, veterinary services, wildlife operations, inspectorate, retail and support functions.

This is an early-career opportunity with impact for a recent Human Resources graduate, someone nearing completion of their studies or an emerging People & Culture professional looking to build broad practical experience in a diverse and purpose-led organisation.

You'll support core employee lifecycle processes including employment documentation, recruitment and onboarding, HR systems, payroll inputs, reporting and People & Culture projects.

You'll also be a key point of contact for routine enquiries, helping ensure employees and leaders receive accurate, timely and consistent support.

Working alongside experienced People & Culture professionals, you'll develop strong People & Culture foundations while contributing to the systems and processes that support our people to focus on RSPCA Queensland's animal welfare work.

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for an emerging professional who is organised, curious and dependable with a genuine interest in building a career in People & Culture.

You'll have strong attention to detail, clear communication skills and reliable follow-through.

You'll be comfortable managing confidential information, working across competing priorities and asking questions when something is outside your knowledge or scope.

You don't need years of experience. A relevant qualification, placement, internship and/or experience in administration, recruitment or customer service can provide a strong foundation. What matters is your ability to learn quickly, use sound judgement and contribute as part of a collaborative team.

You'll be interested in working in an operational environment where effective people practices directly support employees and leaders delivering animal care and community services across Queensland.

Just as importantly, you're approachable, collaborative and genuinely enjoy partnering with leaders to help them execute people operations. You're someone who takes pride in delivering outcomes that are both practical and efficient.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

• Coordinate employee lifecycle administration including contracts and variations, onboarding, internal transfers, position changes, probation documentation and separation processes.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and workforce data in Employment Hero and other People & Culture systems, including regular data checks and audits.
• Manage and triage routine People & Culture enquiries, providing timely support within scope and escalating complex or sensitive matters appropriately.
• Support recruitment and onboarding activities including requisitions, advertisements, candidate administration, pre-employment checks, employment documentation and induction coordination.
• Coordinate payroll-related employee changes and inputs in line with pay-cycle deadlines, working closely with Payroll to resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare workforce reports, correspondence, templates, meeting materials and records to support effective People & Culture service delivery and decision-making.
• Provide coordination and administrative support to the People & Culture Manager and Partners across employee relations, performance, engagement, workforce initiatives and organisational projects.
• Contribute to the improvement of People & Culture procedures, templates, workflows and self-service resources to strengthen consistency and the employee experience.
• Build effective working relationships across the organisation while maintaining privacy, confidentiality and professional standards.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline are preferred, including candidates who have recently graduated or are nearing completion of their studies.
• Experience in People & Culture, workforce administration, recruitment or customer service is desirable but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, data integrity, privacy and confidentiality.
• Well-developed organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and a professional, service-focused approach when working with employees, leaders and candidates.
• Confidence using technology and the ability to learn HR information and recruitment systems; Employment Hero experience is highly desirable.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving capability, including knowing when a matter should be escalated.
• A collaborative approach and genuine alignment with the purpose and values of RSPCA Queensland.
• Experience coaching and influencing leaders at varying levels of an organisation.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent judgement, problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
