Job Description

Alder Group is proudly celebrating 23 years in 2026, bringing engineering and construction teams together to deliver building, civil and infrastructure projects.

What sets Alder apart is not only what we deliver, but how we deliver it - through collaborative and consultative partnerships that align stakeholders around shared goals and deliver lasting benefits for people, projects and the communities they serve.

We’re seeking a proactive and people-focused HR Business Partner to partner with leaders across the business, aligning people strategies with operational goals. In this role you will work closely with senior leaders to provide trusted, pragmatic advice and drive initiatives that enhance culture. You will balance strategic business partnering with hands on day-to-day HR delivery to support leaders, strengthen capability and drive performance and workforce effectiveness across the organisation.

  • Partner with leaders across the business to provide trusted HR advice, build leadership capability and support people decisions that align with business objectives.
  • Support workforce planning, organisational design and talent initiatives that strengthen team capability, drive performance and meet evolving operational needs.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on performance, employee relations, engagement and change management, helping to foster a productive and high-performing culture.
  • Identify people trends, risks and opportunities through workforce data and business insight, and contribute to practical solutions that improve performance, capability and retention.
  • Drive the effective implementation of HR initiatives, policies and programs that support compliance, strengthen leadership practice and enhance the employee experience.
  • Partner with operational leaders and key stakeholders to support workforce capability through targeted learning, development and succession-focused initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of people practices, systems and processes to ensure they are fit for purpose, commercially relevant and aligned with the needs of a growing business.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an HR Business Partner or similar partnering role, ideally within construction, trades or a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with leaders, provide sound people advice and influence outcomes that support business performance.
  • Strong capability across employee relations, performance support and employment legislation, with the confidence to guide leaders through complex people matters.
  • Commercially minded and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance people considerations with operational priorities and business needs.
  • Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • A proactive and credible approach, with sound judgement, resilience and the ability to navigate change in a practical and constructive way.
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Alder Group

About Alder Group

Since its inception 20 years ago, Alder Group has quietly emerged as an industry force to be reckoned with.

Beginning with just one person who dreamt of a working environment where staff didn’t feel like a cog in a wheel and client relationships were built on integrity and respect, the company has grown into a multi-disciplined construction and development syndicate with an expanding geographical footprint.

From our small beginnings we have continued to build strong, long-lasting relationships within our networks, taking pride in delivering outcomes that live up to our name. Where most construction or development companies niche themselves, we’ve always thrived on diversity – embracing civil and building projects with an ease that belies the complexities and developing multifaceted projects that offer real value to the community. Our multidisciplinary approach along with our ability to adapt to changing market conditions is what has set us apart from our competitors from the outset. And, with a long list of successful developments behind us, we have additional skillsets and expertise that other players do not.

With work that speaks for itself, it’s our thriving culture, professional edge and unwillingness to compromise on quality that truly underpins our success.
