Our team of HR professionals provide services that are helping to drive Westpac towards its vision and overall business strategy.
We are seeking an experienced People Consultant with an ER focus to join our People and Communications team on a fixed term basis. Reporting to our Senior Managers People Advisory, you will be part of the wider People & Communications business function at Westpac. The team you will be joining are collaborative, supportive, and energised!
With strong and clear leadership, the role will support our people leaders, uplift their capability and support with people and policy advice. You will create and maintain strong relationships with your stakeholders and positively interact and engage raising the People and Communications brand within the business.
This opportunity will allow you to build upon your Employment Relations knowledge and generalist experience and will see you working collaboratively with managers - providing timely and sound advice. With a strong focus on Employee Relations, this role will see you managing cases from end to end across a wide range of ER matters, including disciplinaries, performance management, interpersonal conflicts and wellbeing matters.
This role develops strong relationships with the wider HR team and supports them to drive people agendas and plans across all Business Units including:
Partnering with People Business partners and Business Managers to work through complex initiatives and employee matters
Supporting with people projects and cyclical People and Comms activities
Educating, coaching and advising business leaders on a full range of People policies, practices and processes
Managing ER cases from end to end including but not limited to disciplinaries, absence, investigations and performance management
Assisting line managers with a variety of staff related matters

A customer centric approach with the ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships across all levels
Sound knowledge of NZ employment law and experience in managing ER cases end to end
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivery
Experience in working in a people generalist role
Strong interpersonal skills – written and verbal
Attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively
