We’re looking for a proactive People & Capability Coordinator to support the full employee lifecycle and help attract and retain great talent at Timaru District Council.

As the People & Capability Coordinator, your role will be busy and varied. You will provide high-quality HR administrative support across the organisation while coordinating end-to-end recruitment processes. Working closely with managers and the People & Capability team, you will help ensure a seamless experience for both candidates and employees, from attraction through to onboarding and beyond. Alongside this, you will assist with remuneration updates, coordinate health, safety and wellbeing activities such as staff checks and vaccinations etc.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in a relevant role, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will demonstrate a high level of professionalism when handling confidential information with a strong focus on privacy.

You will be highly organised, capable of managing a varied workload and competing priorities, and able to consistently meet deadlines through effective time management.

This is a 3.5-month fixed-term role (Parental Leave Cover) and offers 40 hours per week. It is anticipated that this role will commence from approximately 18th May 2026 and conclude on 31st August 2026. The hourly rate range for this role is $32.87 - $38.67.
