Maternity cover – People and Talent coordinators (12 month contract)

Biodiversity Australia is a fast-growing, Indigenous-owned environmental consultancy delivering innovative solutions across biodiversity, environmental management and sustainable development.

  • We’re looking for a People & Talent Coordinator to join our team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
  • This is a hands-on, varied role combining recruitment, HR coordination, employee support, onboarding and payroll preparation. You’ll be the friendly and approachable face of People & Culture and a key point of contact for our employees and managers.
  • About the role
  • You’ll work closely with the People & Culture Manager and wider leadership team to support our people across the employee lifecycle.
  • Your day-to-day will include:
  • Managing end-to-end recruitment, from taking briefs and writing job ads through to sourcing, screening, interviews, references and offers.
  • Building strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers and employees.
  • Managing onboarding, inductions, contracts, changes to conditions and offboarding.
  • Acting as a first point of contact forday-to-day HR and employee queries.
  • Supporting employees with generalpayroll and timesheet enquiries.
  • Preparing and checking information for payroll processing.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS information.
  • Supporting the People & Culture Manager with employee relations, engagement initiatives, culture projects and HR administration.
  • Assisting with HR reporting, employee surveys, events and other P&C projects.
  • Ensuring HR processes, policies and employment requirements are followed.
  • About you
  • We’re looking for someone who is confident, proactive, organised and genuinely enjoys working with people.
  • You’ll ideally have:
  • 5+ years’ experience across recruitment, HR coordination or a combination of both.
  • Strong end-to-end recruitment experience.
  • Experience with ATS and/or HRIS systems.
  • Experience supporting onboarding and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Exposure to payroll preparation, timesheets and payroll queries.
  • Good knowledge of Australian employment practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach and the confidence to work independently.
  • A professional but down-to-earth personality.
