Job Description

Are you an experienced People & Culture professional who loves being close to the operation, supporting leaders and creating a workplace where people genuinely feel they belong?

We’re looking for an experienced People & Culture Manager to join the team at Novotel Christchurch Airport.

Supporting a diverse team of approximately 120 employees, this is a hands-on role where you’ll partner closely with the Hotel Manager and leadership team across all aspects of the employee experience.

Reporting to the Hotel Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the Director of People & Culture, you’ll also be part of Hind Management’s wider People & Culture team and have the support of dedicated Learning & Development and Health & Safety specialists.

Belonging matters to us

At Hind Management, inclusion isn’t something that sits on the side of our People & Culture strategy – it is part of who we are.

We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for people who can face barriers to employment, including people with disabilities and neurodivergent people, and we want our P&C Manager to actively champion this work.

Our commitment to Te Ao Māori is also an important part of our culture. You’ll support initiatives that strengthen understanding, connection and confidence in Te Ao Māori and help us continue embedding this across the employee experience.

You don’t need to have all the answers – but you do need to genuinely care about creating a workplace where different people, cultures, backgrounds and abilities are welcomed and valued.

Requirements

  • Managing recruitment and selection, onboarding and the employee lifecycle
  • Providing confident, practical advice to leaders on employment relations, employment legislation, performance and disciplinary matters
  • Coaching and supporting managers to build their people leadership capability
  • Supporting workforce planning and ensuring the hotel has the right people in the right roles
  • Coordinating employee engagement, recognition, wellbeing initiatives and staff events
  • Championing our benefits and ensuring our people understand what is available to them
  • Supporting performance and development programmes and working closely with our L&D team
  • Preparing P&C reporting, analysing people data and identifying trends and opportunities
  • Supporting group-wide P&C initiatives and bringing them to life within the hotel
  • Working alongside our H&S team to support a safe and healthy workplace
  • Helping us continue to build a workplace where everyone feels they belong

About You | Ko Koe Tēnei

We’re looking for someone who already has solid HR/P&C experience and can confidently operate as the P&C lead within a busy hotel environment.

You’ll bring strong working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice, along with experience managing employee relations matters from beginning to end. You’ll be comfortable having difficult conversations, providing sound advice to managers and balancing the needs of our people with the needs of the business.

Just as importantly, you’ll be approachable, visible and genuinely enjoy connecting with people. This isn’t a role where you’ll spend all day behind a desk – we want someone who gets out into the hotel, knows our people and understands what is happening across the operation.

Hospitality experience would be advantageous, but strong P&C experience, sound judgement and the right approach to people are most important.

You’ll have the opportunity to lead P&C within a large, busy hotel while still having the support and connection of a wider national team.

At Hind Management, we believe our people are at the heart of our success. We’re proud of the culture we’ve created and equally committed to continuing to listen, learn and improve.

If you’re looking for a role where you can be hands-on, influence leaders, champion inclusion and genuinely make a difference to the working lives of our people, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and come and help us continue creating a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to belong, grow and thrive.
