Job Description

About Aurora

At Aurora Expeditions, our purpose is to help people discover the world's most remote and inspiring places while fostering a deeper connection with our planet. Behind every voyage is a passionate global team of staff and expedition team members working together to deliver extraordinary experiences for our passengers.

We're looking for a People & Culture Coordinator to support and connect our global workforce. This role plays an important part in creating a positive employee and contractor experience, ensuring our people feel supported, engaged, and part of one Aurora team, regardless of where they are based.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll support a broad range of People & Culture activities across our office based employees and Expedition Team, including:

  • Coordinating onboarding, contracts, compliance documentation, and workforce administration.
  • Being a first point of contact for employee and expedition team enquiries.
  • Supporting employee and expedition team wellbeing, engagement, recognition, and communication initiatives.
  • Maintaining workforce systems, records, reporting, and people data.
  • Coordinating learning and development activities, compliance training, and workforce capability programs.
  • Supporting policy administration and continuous improvement of people processes.
  • Assisting with Expedition Team administration, including contractor payments, expense reimbursements, and insurance claims.
  • Working closely with leaders and stakeholders across the business to foster a connected, high-performing "One Team" culture.

About You

You'll thrive in this role if you're organised, proactive, and enjoy supporting people. You're comfortable juggling multiple priorities, building relationships across diverse teams, working in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment, and finding ways to improve processes and experiences. You'll likely have experience working in a People & Culture, HR Coordination, People Operations, or workforce support role, and enjoy being the person who helps things run smoothly behind the scenes. Experience supporting a geographically dispersed workforce is highly regarded, and exposure to the travel, tourism, adventure, outdoor, maritime, or expedition sectors will be viewed favourably. Most importantly, you're passionate about creating a positive employee experience and helping bring people together around a shared purpose and culture.

We're Looking For Someone With

  • 3-5 years' experience in HR coordination, People Operations, workforce coordination, or a similar role.
  • Experience supporting onboarding and employee lifecycle administration.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 and systems skills, with experience using HRIS and CRM platforms (salesforce preferred).
  • A collaborative and customer service approach to supporting employees and stakeholders.

Why Join Aurora?

  • Work with a purpose driven B Corp Certified company delivering life changing expedition experiences.
  • Support a unique workforce of office based employees and expedition contractors from around the world.
  • Be part of a collaborative team that values curiosity, respect, authenticity, and adventure.
  • Grow your career in a dynamic global business where no two days are the same.
Aurora Expeditions

About Aurora Expeditions

From the start, Aurora Expeditions was destined to be different. Co-founders Greg and Margaret Mortimer had a passion for adventure, exploring wild places and sharing the experience with friends and in 1991, Aurora Expeditions, named in honour of Sir Douglas Mawson’s ship, was born.

Their aim was simple – to take small groups of travellers on voyages of discovery to inspiring regions, thereby creating lifelong ambassadors for the preservation and protection of these sacred places. More than three decades later, that pioneering spirit burns just as brightly, as does our preference for small-group, personal expeditions.

Less people means more solitude and greater flexibility if tides, currents, ice or weather dictate a schedule change. And because we have fewer people to ferry ashore, we often make more landings.

We make the most of our size advantage to create intimate expeditions varying in length from 8 to 30 days. Simply choose the region you’d like to explore, the amount of time you’ve got and what activities you enjoy. Focus on one destination or combine back-to-back trips for the ‘Ultimate Adventure’.

You’ll be accompanied by an Expedition Team that we believe are the world’s best. Remote area specialists, their onboard lectures entertain and expand your knowledge.

We are proud to be a Certified B Corporation™️, with an ongoing commitment to protect the world’s wild places and become the global leader in sustainable expedition travel.

Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning for another thrilling adventure, our original goals remain unchanged. Explore wild places that stir the soul, create ambassadors for the planet, offer personal attention on unforgettable expeditions and welcome new friends into the Aurora Expeditions’ family.
