Job Description

The Opportunity

As the new People and Culture Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, client-focused HR support across Telco Australia and the broader People and Culture team within Energy and Utilities based in our Milton office, Brisbane.

You will be responsible for a range of transactional HR activities and providing first-level HR advice to leaders and employees. This role is instrumental in ensuring HR matters are managed efficiently, effectively, and in line with The Downer Standard before escalation to HR specialists where required.

In addition, you will contribute to strategic HR initiatives, including systems enhancements and continuous improvement projects, helping to strengthen HR processes and service delivery across the business.

What we are looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Sound understanding of employment legislation, industrial awards, and enterprise agreements, with the ability to provide accurate and practical HR advice
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams, leaders, and stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational capability, and the ability to effectively prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with leaders and key stakeholders at all levels
  • Desired but not essential: experience in workplace investigations and interpretation of industrial instruments
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-pressure, outcome-focused environment
