Job Description

As a People Advisor embedded in the People Workplace Relations & Advisory team, you'll play a meaningful role in ensuring leaders across our business have the confidence and capability to bring out the best in their teams.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partnering with the broader People team and business in delivering fit-for-purpose people insights and solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Working across the people team and the business to support performance coaching and management
  • Operate as a conduit for key people initiatives with a focus on optimising employee experiences,
  • Enabling data-driven people planning, as well as active management of cyclical people activities such as talent, succession, performance, recognition, engagement and remuneration
  • Supporting the People Business Partners and working closely with our People Assist Team and other People Advisors to help form meaningful people interventions aligned to both the business strategy and people plan
  • Coaching leaders on generalist ER and performance matters
  • Supporting leaders with probationary review processes and onboarding compliance, ensuring all new team members are set up for success.
  • Providing project management support for key P&C initiatives and ongoing cyclical activities

What You'll Bring

  • People/HR Advisor or junior HRBP experience with demonstrated experience owning HR cyclical activities and supporting senior HR team members with strategic people initiatives
  • An ability to work autonomously to deliver outcomes but also have a team approach and mindset to sharing insights, updates and key information
  • Strong stakeholder management experience and interpersonal skills and experience partnering with stakeholders of all levels
  • Data analytics and insights capabilities
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset suited to the pace of a large retail environment like David Jones
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Law, or a related discipline
