Peer Support Workers – New Central Auckland Peer Support Cafe
• Permanent, Full-time or part-time positions available.
• This position will be based on site, at a location a short distance from Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital.
• The service will eventually operate 7 days a week. Final operating hours are currently being confirmed and will include extended evening availability.
• Ember Support Worker Pay Rates $25.00 - $31.00ph (depending on qualification held and its equivalence to the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing L4, with stepped increases based on tenure)

About the Service | Ko Te Whare O Te Toka Tumai Peer Support Cafe
The Peer Support Café offers an alternative to emergency departments, grounded in a mana-enhancing, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach.
We provide a calm, welcoming environment where people can walk in, be listened to, and receive support during periods of distress. Support is delivered by trained peer support workers with lived experience, focused on helping people feel steadier through difficult moments. No referral is needed.
We support people who are seeking immediate support and benefit from a non-clinical setting.
About The Role | Nga Mahi
As a Peer Support Worker, you’ll build trusting, authentic relationships that help people feel grounded and understood. You’ll walk alongside individuals to explore what matters to them, support them to identify their own goals, and connect them with community resources and networks.
You will bring | Nga Pukenga
• Have your own lived experience with Mental Health and Recovery
• Have/are working towards a National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing L4 or equivalent.
• Have experience working with Mental Health and/or Addictions
• Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
• Have the ability to work in a team environment and from a bicultural perspective.
• Be professional and have good boundaries and ethics.
• Have experience working in the area of mental health and/or addictions (alcohol and other drugs)
• Full NZ Driver's License
• Valid/Current work visa, residency, or citizenship
