JOB TITLE: Peer Support Specialist – Moore County

LOCATION: Southern Pines, NC (Moore County)

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

The Peer Support Specialist will provide recovery-based support for Coastal Horizons Flourishing Families Program located in Southern Pines, NC. This program services parenting women with a substance use disorder, her children, and her identified supports. The Peer Support Specialist is an integral part of Coastal Horizons Center’s team approach for integrated behavioral health care. The Peer Support Specialist works with referred clients to access and engage in substance use treatment, mental health services, medication management, and community-based resources. This role focuses on improving client outcomes by facilitating connections to medication management, coordinating care, providing education, modeling positive recovery behaviors, and fostering trust between clients and their clinical and medical providers. The Peer Support Specialist also supports clients in connecting with community recovery programs, strengthening communication, and ensuring continuity of care.

Responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, and monitoring clients on issues related to their treatment and recovery goals. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Peer Support Specialist collaborates with care team members to coordinate patient education, preventive services, and ongoing recovery management.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Highschool Diploma/Equivalent or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts. Lived experiences with mental health and/or substance use disorders and at least 18 months of recovery. Must have completed or be willing to complete the Peer Support Specialist Certification Program.
