JOB TITLE: Certified Peer Support Specialist

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, Full Time

LOCATION: Brunswick County - Onsite/Community Based

R EQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

HS Diploma or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts.? Personal experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment, or some equivalent experience preferred. Must have peer support specialist certification.

JOB POSTING:

The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery based supportive services for Coastal Horizons clients to assist them in pursuing and achieving health, wellness, & recovery goals. The Peer Support Specialist will provide support to incarcerated individuals seeking treatment to streamline individuals into treatment, provide resources, and engage at the onset of treatment services. Must be able to coordinate care, transport clients if needed, and track recovery support services provided.

POSITION HIGHTLIGHTS:

  • Promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, involvement and engagement with wellness services and recovery support, and engagement with primary care.
  • Completes documentation of services, engages in ongoing continuing education for professional development, and works in a variety of settings.
  • Assists clients in a variety of ways – recovery support, sharing of lived experience, resource acquisition, coordination of care.
