Bring your lived experience and join a new service based on an internationally renowned peer crisis care model to support guests on their recovery journey

We are building an exciting, new peer-led community-based acute alternative to hospital within the central Auckland Te Toka Tumai region. This is an opportunity for you to step into an exciting Peer Support Specialist role. You will be working alongside others with lived and living experience who are trained to deliver inspiring peer services alongside clinical kaimahi. As kaimahi you will use recovery tools, models, and practices to inspire resilience, hope, and wellbeing. The service will be delivered in partnership with other mental health and addiction providers and will be informed by a rights and values-based approach to care. You’ll be reporting to a Senior Peer Support Specialist and Team Coach while working with the support of your extensive team.
In this role, you will intentionally draw on your lived or living experience to support others on their recovery journey, using your peer support training while upholding peer values and competencies in all aspects of your practice. You will provide compassionate support to acute tāngata whai ora staying at at the service as a community-based alternative to hospital care, helping to create a safe, welcoming, and recovery-focused environment. You will also support all aspects of tāngata whai ora wellbeing, recovery, and self-determination throughout their stay.
These are permanent full-time roles, based in Auckland Central. You will be working night shift, 11pm – 7:30am.

We would love to hear from peers who are at a stage in their wellbeing journey where they are ready to support others in theirs. Alongside your lived or living experience and strong interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to build meaningful relationships and work collaboratively with Te Whatu Ora, PHOs, and the wider community sector. You will be excited by the opportunity to join a new peer-led team that supports recovery, connection, and hope.
