Eliot is seeking a strong, experienced Peer Specialist to join our Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) team. PACT is an evidence-based model that provides comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation, and support to adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong support skills, experience with mental health and treatment, empathetic, and motivated to improve the lives of adults with mental illnesses. An ability to develop lasting relationships with the clients we serve by drawing on your own mental health experience is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer counseling and support drawing on their own experiences to validate consumers’ experiences.
  • Empower individuals to exercise autonomy in all aspects of their life.
  • Assist clients with identifying choices and developing skills in self-advocacy.
  • Provide guidance in the recovery process. Provide advocacy, support, and education during intake and transition processes across the spectrum of services and transition to independence. Assist clients with being able to identify personal methods of recovery from mental illness and to develop self-management plans to address their experiences.
  • Promote hope and empowerment through meetings and support. Collaborate with the team to ensure that the individual’s perspective is always included, that preferences are recognized and that choices are maximized.
  • Utilize a team based approach to support and services, collaborating with colleagues and actively participating in daily meetings.
  • Ensure that services are culturally competent, strengths based, recovery based, focused on rehabilitation and are inclusive of Person preferences. Ensure that the Person is at the center of all care and that all interventions are developed and provided in a manner consistent with Person preferences.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with mental health and treatment. Empathetic and motivated to improve the lives of adults with mental illnesses. Driven and able to develop lasting relationships with both the people by drawing on their own mental health experiences.
  • Must be either receiving services or received services in the past from the mental health system and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness and be well along in their recovery.
  • Valid Massachusetts drivers license

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, with one standing evening shift 12p-8p and rotating weekends (once a month) and rotating holidays


Hourly Rate $23.08$23.08 USD
