If you've walked the path of recovery and want to help others do the same, this is your opportunity to turn your journey into purpose. You'll be part of the Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders (ITCD) team that values your voice and the power of shared experience.

About the ITCD Program:
The Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders (ITCD) program provides specialized, person-centered care for individuals experiencing both mental health and substance use disorders. Through a holistic, team-based approach, the program focuses on treating the whole person—not just symptoms—by integrating behavioral health and addiction services into a unified treatment plan.

As a Peer Specialist on the ITCD team, you’ll use your lived experience to walk alongside individuals in recovery, helping them build hope, develop coping strategies, and stay engaged in care. Peer support plays a key role in helping participants navigate challenges, celebrate progress, and stay connected to treatment and community-based resources.

This is a great opportunity for someone who:

  • believes that recovery is possible for everyone
  • wants to make a difference by encouraging others to take charge of their wellness
  • eager to use their lived experience to inspire hope & resilience in others

If you're passionate about peer support, community connection, and being a trusted ally in someone’s recovery journey, this role is a meaningful fit.

  • Share personal recovery experiences and model healthy coping strategies
  • Support individuals in building confidence, resilience, and community connections
  • Assist with goal-setting and navigating treatment and support systems
  • Help individuals recognize and build on their own strengths
  • Participate as a valued member of the treatment team
  • Provide transportation support when clinically indicated; driving is an essential function of this position
  • Complete required state training, supervision, and certification processes (if not already certified)

Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • High School/GED required

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Must self-identify as a current or former consumer of behavioral health, substance use, or co-occurring disorder services
  • Must complete a state-approved training program, pass a standardized examination, complete certification process within 60 days of hire date, and maintain ongoing certification as a Certified Peer Specialist through the MCB (MO). Required only when applicable.
  • A valid driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required

You’ll Be A Great Fit for This Role if You:

  • Are in recovery and want to use your story to inspire others
  • Understand the importance of peer connection, self-determination, and community support
  • Are empathetic, reliable, and able to build trusting relationships
  • Communicate openly and respectfully with others from all walks of life
