Job Description

PACE to Recovery Peer Navigator to provide recovery support services for individuals and families experiencing a behavioral health crisis (Substance Use Disorder and/or Mental Health), needed for coverage at PCS offices, local emergency dept., and possibly some home visits. Peer Recovery Specialists also provide non-clinical peer-to-peer activities to empower individuals to improve health, recovery, resiliency, and wellness. Must have ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with individuals, small groups, agency staff, and community partners. Familiarity with principles of recovery required, Certified PRS preferred. It is required to obtain and maintain Registration by the Board of Professions within in one year of hire. To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate a minimum of 1 year sustained personal recovery experience from a mental health and/or substance use disorder.

Community Services Boards are joint partnerships between local and state governments, and they provide Mental Health, Developmental and Intellectual disabilities and Substance Use Disorder services. Initially created by the Virginia General Assemble in 1968, there are now 40 Community Services Boards. CSB's are agents of local communities and operate under regulations of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services.

Formed in 1972, Piedmont Community Services has provided our community with behavioral health services for over 50 years. We serve the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry, Franklin and Patrick.

PCS Mission is to help individuals, families, and the community enhance the quality of life by providing a highly effective continuum of behavioral health services including prevention, treatment, education, and support.
