Peer Mentor – Taunton TAG Program

Be a Positive Role Model. Build Connections. Support Young Adults.

The Old Colony Y is looking for a caring, dependable, and energetic Peer Mentor to join our TAG Programs team!

As a Peer Mentor, you will support young adults in a safe, positive, and structured environment while helping them build confidence, independence, and life skills. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, facilitate activities, support community connections, and encourage young adults as they work toward their goals.

What You Will Do

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with young adults
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor
  • Facilitate recreational, social, and community activities
  • Support daily living skills, self-care, and meal preparation
  • Assist with program intake and orientation
  • Use de-escalation and crisis prevention skills
  • Support young adults with employment, education, court, and community opportunities
  • Complete required program documentation

Position Details

  • Part-time Mondays & Wednesdays from 1:30pm-6:30pm and every other Friday from 1:30pm-6:30pm
  • Taunton TAG Program
  • Work directly with 12 - 18 year olds in a community-based setting
  • Opportunities to make a meaningful impact every day

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid ID
  • Experience working with adolescents/young adults preferred
  • Social services experience preferred
  • Must successfully complete CORI and SORI checks
  • Professional references required
  • Must complete required training and certifications
  • Ability to work effectively with young adults who may have emotional and behavioral challenges
