Peer Mentor Coordinator (Female)

The Nelson Trust is a leading charity providing treatment, care and support for people who experience multiple and complex needs. Through our Women’s Centres, we support women to make positive changes, overcome barriers and build brighter futures.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Peer Mentor Coordinator to further develop our peer support and mentoring service within our Gloucester Women's Community Services team. This rewarding role will work closely with women who are involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, the criminal justice system, empowering them to use their lived experience to support others through structured peer mentoring and person-centred support.

Salary: £27,000 - £28,000 pro rata

Hours: Up to 28 hours per week

Location: Gloucester

What will you do?

• Coordinate and develop the peer mentoring service, including recruitment, induction, training and supervision of Peer Mentor Volunteers.
• Deliver Peer Mentoring and Peer Support training programmes and support volunteers towards qualifications and personal development goals.
• Facilitate mentor and mentee matches, complete risk assessments and monitor progress to ensure safe and effective support.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to promote the service and strengthen referral pathways.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor outcomes and contribute to reports for operational and funding purposes.
• Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and support women to access relevant community services and opportunities.

What we are looking for

• A full driving licence, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel between locations.
• Experience working with women with complex needs and an understanding of trauma-informed and gender-specific approaches.
• Experience delivering group programmes focused on wellbeing, relationships, emotional health, or personal development.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and supervisory skills.
• Excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills, with experience maintaining records and producing reports.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, domestic abuse and working with women, mothers and families facing multiple disadvantage.
