Job Description

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Department of Pediatrics seeks a BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician to join the Center for Child Protection & Well-Being at Vanderbilt. Interested candidate will have the opportunity to join a dynamic abuse pediatrics team consisting of the lead child abuse pediatrician, nurse practitioners, program coordinator, dedicated social worker, and nutritionist. Our team's clinical activities include evaluations of suspected victims of child maltreatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings. We also partner with a community organization staffed by forensic nurse practitioners int he evaluation of suspected child sexual abuse. Participation in hospital and community-based multidisciplinary teams as well as provision of education to learners are key roles of all team members. Opportunities to engage in research, quality improvement, or medical education are also available and highly encouraged.

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is ranked in 10 out of 11 pediatric specialty programs in U.S. News and World Report’s 2024-2025 “Best Children’s Hospitals.” The Children’s Hospital currently has 343 beds and supports the Department of Pediatrics' pillars of patient care, education and discovery. The catchment area includes middle Tennessee, southern Kentucky, and northern Alabama. We are the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in the region. Our program is also the only one of its kind in this region.
