Job Description

Reports to: Chief Medical Officer

Supervises: N/A

Salary/Status: Exempt

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Maintenance of unrestricted Massachusetts medical license.
  2. Completion of the M.D. degree.
  3. Completion of three years post-graduate residency training in an accredited pediatric residency program.
  4. AAP Board eligibility in Pediatrics.
  5. Maintenance of current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances registrations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to provide quality care in a high-volume, multicultural health Center setting.
  7. Qualification for staff privileges at Baystate Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center, and maintenance of such privileges during job tenure.
  8. Qualification as a provider for major insurers.

Desirable

  1. AAP Board Certification in Pediatrics
  2. Fluency in Spanish, Russian, Arabic, or other language spoken by the Health Center’s patient population
  3. Special expertise in provision of health care to underserved, culturally diverse populations

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Provide clinical care to children and adolescents
  2. Perform scheduled on-call duties, or find coverage when unable to participate
  3. Perform clerical and administrative tasks needed for quality patient care.
  4. Participate in Health Center and community health education activities and projects.

Communications:

  1. Demonstrates sensitivity and responds appropriately to verbal and non-verbal communications of patients, families and co-workers.
  2. Maintains patient’s right to privacy, assuring dignity in the provision of care; is discreet in all communications, written or oral, about the patient’s care.

Problem Resolution:

  1. Consistently utilizes good judgment in the resolution of problems, clinical and non-clinical.
  2. Possesses the ability to act independently and is willing to make decisions utilizing good judgment.
  3. Has the ability to visualize and anticipate new problems and to be part of the problem-solving process.

Interpersonal Skills:

  1. Utilizes tact, courtesy, patience, and discretion in dealing with others.
  2. Posses the ability to maintain a stable presence under stress due to pressure of the work environment.

Career Development:

  1. Attends and actively participates in scheduled staff meetings.
  2. Participates in professional staff teaching, both formal and informal.
  3. Maintains clinical competence through on-going medical education and training.
  4. Maintains courtesy privileges at local hospitals (Mercy, Baystate).

Working Conditions:

1. There is potential exposure to patient blood and body fluids.
2. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and writing on a computer
3. Frequent standing and walking.
4. Lifting up to 25 pounds.

*Salary ranges from $220.000 - $295,672
