The Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center at Boston Children’s Hospital is dedicated to the care of infants, children, and young adults with complex esophageal and airway conditions. This is a temporary position through the end of 2026, offering a unique opportunity to support a highly specialized patient population. The role includes 28 hours focused on patients with Esophageal Atresia (EA) and 12 hours in the open clinic, providing a mix of specialized and general clinical exposure. This position is based in our Longwood Ave location in Boston, with an onsite requirement of 3 days per week. To learn more about the Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center, please visit us here.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient nutritional care to patients in the Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center.
  • Works well in a multidisciplinary program, aero digestive experience a plus. Outpatient management for patients with esophageal atresia, tracheomalacia and vascular ring and compression patients.
  • Works collaboratively with surgeons, gastroenterologist and pulmonologists.
  • Evaluating the medical, biochemical, and nutritional information and assessing patient needs in order to develop and implement the most appropriate nutrition care plans.
  • Collaborating with inter professional team members, including physician partners, to optimize safest nutrition care plans, including orders for oral diets, enteral and parenteral nutrition in preparation for a successful hospital discharge
  • Instructing patients and caregivers on prescribed nutritional/diet plan. Serving as a resource and educator for health care providers, students, community dietitians and the public.
  • Assisting with the review of patient education materials or other projects of department significance.
  • Participating in hospital and service/program specific quality improvement (QI) initiatives.
  • Providing supervision of scheduled clinical nutrition services on weekends and holidays. Serving as a resource for food service staff when special patient food service issues arise. Participating in the orientation, and training of new dietitians, as necessary.
  • Working collaboratively with peers and those from other disciplines and patient care settings, and promoting team morale within Clinical Nutrition Services and on patient units.
  • Participating in speaking and writing opportunities as well as Clinical Nutrition Services education forums.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nutrition & Dietetics

Experience:

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Dietetics with at least 2 years in pediatric nutrition

Certifications/Licensure:

  • Registration by Commission on Dietetic Registration, the Credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as a Registered Dietitian
  • Licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a licensed Dietitian.
