Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.

Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is recruiting psychologists at all levels of experience or rank to join our team and expand access to mental and behavioral health care to the youth of our region. Our pediatric psychology team provides care to patients across 31+ integrated programs (and growing!).

We are recruiting psychologists who are skilled in working with youth with medical complexity and within multidisciplinary teams across outpatient and inpatient settings. Experience conducting targeted outpatient consultations, brief evidence-based interventions, pre-surgical evaluations, inpatient consultation/liaison, multidisciplinary care conferences, and targeted evaluation is desired. We are recruiting multiple psychologists and welcome conversations with interested candidates about how your interests and experiences may line up with our opportunities.

We are currently recruiting psychologists with expertise or interest in the following areas of practice:

  • Inpatient consultation/liaison, including on our medical surgical unit for youth with medical and behavioral health needs

  • Neuropsychology
  • Critical Care Medicine
  • Sleep Medicine
  • Surgical subspecialties (Gynecology, Cochlear implant/Otology, Urology)
  • Weight Management
  • Assessment and consultation for youth in the foster care system

Please note we have open positions in clinical child psychology, including diagnostic assessment (general, autism), in our ADHD and Eating Disorder clinics, and for parent-management training/interventions for disruptive behaviors.

In addition, we are recruiting clinical psychologists for our regional locations, including Wichita, KS.

This position will include teaching in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs. It will also include protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is provided to all new faculty members, with additional support available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives). This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, pediatric psychology, clinical child psychology, or related field
