Inova Children's Ophthalmology - Ryan Park is looking for a dedicated Pediatric Ophthalmic Technician to join the Team. This role will be full-time working day-shift Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 4:45pm located in Ashburn, VA.
The Ophthalmic Technician performs comprehensive testing and eye evaluations to ensure optimum vision for all Eye Clinic patients. Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery by incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice while enhancing patient outcomes. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while showing respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines.

Pediatric Ophthalmic Technician Responsibilities:
Conducts motility evaluations, refractometry, evaluation of pupils and pupillary dilation as well as intraocular pressure measurements.
Performs fundus photography and fluorescein angiography. Monitors and maintains regulatory compliance for the Eye Clinic.
Conducts routine cleaning, maintenance, calibration, and minor adjustments/repairs on all clinic equipment. Notifies the appropriate department for additional maintenance. Performs the surgical scheduling process for all Eye Clinic patients.
Obtains and documents comprehensive medical and ophthalmic patient history.
Maintains the correct inventory and sterility of all medications, supplies, and equipment in the Eye Clinic. Demonstrates effective communication skills and assists in the resolution of conflict among healthcare team members, patients, and families.
Acts as the Liaison with Inova Health System's Surgery Center regarding clinical issues associated with surgical procedures.
Performs various testing (e.g. visual field tests, acuity testing, color vision testing, potential acuity meter testing, biometric A-scans, external and slit lamp examinations, and pachymetry testing).
Demonstrates quality leadership by recognizing trends in patient populations while exploring alternatives to care and making revisions to standards of practice.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 2 years as an Ophthalmic Technician, or 2 years relevant clinical experience, or an Associate's Degree and 1 year of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ophthalmic Technician certification preferred.
Previous experience working as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred.
Previous experience working with the pediatric population preferred.
