Job Description

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implements and monitors the EDAP quality improvement program to include data collection and reporting as per Reference 620, EMS Quality Improvement Program.
  • Collaborates with the EDAP Medical Director, ED Nurse Manager/Director, and the Designated Pediatric Consultant to ensure compliance with the EDAP standards, EDAP agreement, Reference 312, Pediatric Liaison Nurse Organization and policies and procedures established by the EMS agency.
  • Serves as a liaison and maintains effective lines of communication with ED Management, hospital pediatric management, physicians, personnel, paramedic base hospital personnel, PdLN/PECC colleagues and the EMS Agency.
  • Serves as a liaison and maintains effective lines of communication with Pre-hospital Care Coordinator and providers as needed to follow up with pediatric treatment/transport concerns.
  • Serves as a contact person for the EMS Agency and will be available upon request to respond to County meetings and business.
  • Develops a mechanism to track and monitor pediatric continuing education for the ED staff.
  • Monitors pediatric education by maintaining continuing education documentation, to be readily available to the EMS agency during the review process.
  • Participates in the EMS Agency Pediatric Advisory Committee quarterly meeting to address pediatric issues related to prehospital care. Disseminates information obtained from committee to appropriate hospital staff.
  • Participates in and provides reports to any Hospital Committees that will affect pediatric care in the Emergency Department. Disseminates information obtained from committees.
  • Participates in Emergency Management/Disaster planning safety exercises to ensure appropriate care and treatment is provided for out pediatric population during a disaster.
  • All other applicable RN requirements as outlined by Emergency Department Registered Nurse job description.
  • Completes the EDAP application and process every three years. Ensures compliance with EDAP Standards.

2 years Current experience in Emergency Department that provides care for Pediatric patients.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Req

  • ENPC or a 2 day PEC course+ required for full time and part-time employee or within six months of employment.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the standards according to Los Angeles County (LACO) Guidelines of Prehospital Care.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement process as required by LACO Base Station Contract.
  • Maintains Mobile Intensive Care Nurse Certification Requirements and participates in continuing education efforts required by LACO Base Station Contract and USC Arcadia Hospital Policy and Procedures.
  • Communicates with Prehospital and Emergency Medical Services personnel in an objective manner and communicates with the Prehospital Care Coordinator regarding unresolved prehospital care issues.

  • Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • NIHSS Within 30 days of hire.
  • Mobile Intensive Care Nurse Certification (MICN) Within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association

The hourly rate range for this position is $47.84- $79.11. Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) is a nurse coordinator appointed by the organization to coordinate the activities required by the EDAP Standards for pediatric emergency care. The PECC collaborates with the EDAP Medical Director, ED Nursing Director, and Designated Pediatric Consultant to ensure compliance with the EDAP Standards, EDAP agreement, and policies and procedures established by the EMS Agency. The PECC is responsible to track pediatric emergency education, identify pediatric quality improvement issues, and implement changes to improve pediatric emergency care in the emergency
department.
