We’re looking to expand our team across the board.

We are seeking a Senior PCBA Design Engineer to develop and maintain spacecraft and ground-support PCB assemblies on York's Avionics and Payload Engineering team. In this role, you will collaborate across electrical, systems, software, manufacturing, supply chain, and test engineering to produce high-reliability electronics for space missions.

Senior engineers at York take ownership of hardware designs, influence system-level decisions, and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

This role will be fully on-site in our Greenwood Village, Colorado office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, testing, documentation, and maintenance of complex PCBAs for spacecraft systems.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, testability, cost efficiency, and reliability.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and supply chain to transition designs into production.
  • Produce high-quality documentation including schematics, PCB fab/assembly files, BOMs, ICDs, and test plans.
  • Select components based on radiation tolerance, reliability, performance, environmental suitability, and cost.
  • Conduct testing and simulations for thermal, vibration, and shock environments.
  • Lead design troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations.
  • Promote collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence within the team.
  • Perform additional responsibilities supportive of mission and team objectives.

  • Own PCBA designs for a major spacecraft subsystem.
  • See your work progress through prototype, test, and production phases.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure flight readiness.
  • Improve design workflows or documentation processes that strengthen reliability and efficiency.

This role will not have direct reports.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • 4+ years of electrical design experience.
  • Experience with the full product development cycle.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or similar ECAD tools.
  • Experience in schematic capture, PCB layout, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFT principles.
  • Understanding of space environment design considerations (radiation, charging, thermal, outgassing).
  • Experience with high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal design.
  • Familiarity with common interfaces: Ethernet, SERDES, DDR, PCIe, USB, UART, I2C, SPI.
  • Experience designing power regulation circuits.
  • Proficiency using lab equipment for validation/debug.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain security clearance.
  • Willingness to work full-time in office in Greenwood Village, CO.

Preferred Qualification

  • 6+ years of electrical design experience.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as HyperLynx, SIwave, SPICE.
  • Experience with radiation-effect mitigation, RF design, EMI/EMC, or precision timing.
  • Experience managing requirements and test plans.
  • Familiarity with configuration and product data management tools.
  • Programming experience (Python, C, C++, MATLAB).
