Job Description

Operating Entity
SCOR Property &Casualty (“SCOR P&C” SCOR’s property and casualty re/insurance division) is a leading player in the global reinsurance and large corporate risks insurance market.

SCOR P&C offers its clients (insurers and large corporates) a comprehensive range of risk management solutions tailored to the needs of each economic sector, including agriculture, aviation, space, credit and surety, engineering, construction, marine, energy, and others.

Department
The Strategy & Development team primarily supports P&C senior management in addressing the main structural changes affecting the Property &Casualty re/insurance industry: the competitive environment, rates, pricing and claims cost trends, the digital revolution, climate change, and “social inflation”.

The team is responsible for developing the division’s strategic plan and monitoring its implementation, managing cross-functional projects, and preparing memos and presentations on key topics to inform Executive Committee or Board discussions. It also contributes to the assessment of internal and external growth opportunities, including M&A, and to the division’s financial communication for analysts, investors, and rating agencies

Led by the P&C CEO’s Chief of Staff and Head of P&C Strategy, the team benefits from strong visibility within SCOR P&C and the broader SCOR Group.

This internship offers a unique opportunity for rapid development, with a demanding but highly valuable learning curve. Under the supervision of the team’s managers, you will gain significant exposure to senior management topics and be directly involved in key developments affecting the reinsurance market and SCOR P&C. In particular, you will contribute to the following activities:

  • Strategic plan: monitoring the launch of the next P&C strategic plan, which will be disclosed at the end of 2026.
  • Competitive and market intelligence to support the team’s knowledge base, as well as specific analyses for internal stakeholders such as Investor Relations and Underwriting.
  • Research and analysis on market trends, key players, and major development areas for SCOR.
  • Preparation of external communications in coordination with the Rating Agencies and Investor Relations teams.
  • Responses to ad hoc requests from the P&C CEO, including the production of market analyses, presentations, and briefing notes for internal and external engagements.
  • Participation in business development activities.
  • Participation in initiatives to deploy artificial intelligence solutions within P&C.
  • Contribution to internal projects led by team members (including presentation reviews, dashboard updates, etc.).
  • You may also contribute to selected Client Management / Voice of Client activities, including campaign preparation and monitoring in Salesforce, survey testing outcomes analysis, dashboards updates.

As part of a small team reporting directly to senior management, these assignments require confidentiality, responsiveness, and analytical rigor.

Required experience & competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential to operate effectively in this international working environment. Proficiency in French is a plus.
  • You will work within a small team on varied, high-stakes topics; initiative and professionalism are expected. A successful first experience in an analytical field such as equity research, investment banking, or strategy consulting would be a plus.

Required Education

  • You are enrolled in a top-tier academic program, whether at a leading business school, engineering school, or university, and are completing a gap-year internship or final-year internship.

About SCOR

SCOR, one of the world's largest reinsurers, provides its clients with a diversified and innovative range of solutions to control and manage risk. Using its experience and expertise, “The Art & Science of Risk”, SCOR provides cutting-edge financial solutions, analytics tools and services in all areas related to risk – in Life & Health as well as in P&C.

The reinsurance industry is about combining technical expertise and experience with the developments of science. However many tools we use to conduct our activities (models, databases, pricing tools, reserving tools, and so on), we also need expert judgments and human experience to correctly underwrite. This is what we call the art of underwriting. Reinsurance is a knowledge industry. Expertise is an accumulation variable.

The most advanced tool will never replace the intuition of a seasoned underwriter facing a complex risk. Because at the end of the day, you have to make a decision, to sign, to underwrite. And what we have underwritten, we cannot overwrite - our word is our bond, as is our signature. This dimension of our business, linked to the art of underwriting, is more important than some observers would have people believe.

One way to acquire this art is to share experiences – both good and bad – and to share doubts and questions. Artists always belong to a school, from which they learn their craft.

Like artists, we have to learn, imitate, mimic, and then innovate, in order to find our own style and create our own distinctive work.
