How you will make history here…

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with the daily management of the Human Resources Department in Pepperidge Farm’s Richmond, Utah bakery, which employs over 500 hourly and salaried associates. The individual in this role will have responsibility for employee relations, wage and salary administration, hourly performance management, payroll and employee engagement. In addition, the incumbent will act as a change agent and support any future journeys with their implementation, as well as Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement initiatives, that support both the plant and Company’s overall goals and objectives.

What you will do…

1. 40% - Maintain a positive employee relations environment by responding to all employee relations issues and guiding them to successful resolution. Conduct thorough and prompt investigations, interpret and explain Company policy, coach employees as necessary, and ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly and consistently. Administers employment law, and policies and procedures. Coach, train and/or support people leaders in maintaining consistency.
2. 15% - Manage the recruitment and selection for all hourly positions including but not limited to maintain hourly job bids, weekly salaried job posting, coordinate pre-employment checks, schedule and proctor associated testing and communicating testing results, make employment offers, process I-9 employment verifications. Partner with department managers to facilitate and monitor proper crewing levels within the plant.
3. 5% - Coordinates employee engagement events, activities and communication. This includes employee appreciation, company anniversary/retirements, diversity, recognition, etc.
4. 5% - Manage leave of absence requests including personal leave, FML, Short / Long-Term Disability & Workman’s Comp. Ensure compliance with FMLA and ADA regulations.
5. 5% - Partner with the Safety Manager to manage occupational injury/illness claims and administer Workers’ Compensation. Prepare CSC safety audit section and lead auditors through assigned section.
6. 5% - Conduct in-plant training sessions for all employees in HR related areas such as; monthly Frontline Leadership Training, quarterly/as needed operator training and other employee development training.
7. 5% - Drive the Hourly Performance Management Program and lead the hourly workforce compensation process. Conduct annual survey of prevailing hourly wages in the local area and prepare site Hourly Wage Recommendation.
8. 5% - Oversee benefits administration: communicate benefit changes, manage the Annual Enrollment process, and assist employees in resolving benefit and leave issues.
9. 5% - Conduct exit interviews to determine and monitor reasons behind separations. Make applicable recommendations for retention risks.
10. 5% - Develop Richmond’s annual Affirmative Action Plan and quarterly updates in compliance with Company and EEOC guidelines as needed.
11. 5% - Other HR related duties as assigned.

Job Complexity

 Must interpret Company policy and resolve complex employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner. Must be available to respond to these issues on a 24/7 basis.

 Must partner with the plant leadership team to determine appropriate crewing levels and source a diverse slate of qualified candidates for both hourly and salaried positions.

 Must serve as a change agent and help employees adapt to organizational change. Must actively support and help drive Lean transformation and High Performance Organization (HPO) implementation at the Bloomfield Plant.

 Must stay current with respect to both internal and external factors impacting the plant’s workforce, including new or revised Company policies, developments in employment law, pending legislation, etc., communicate these changes to the plant leadership team, and make appropriate recommendations.

What you bring to the table… (Must Have)

• Minimum education preferred: BBA/BS degree in a related field
• Years of relevant experience: 10 years of previous Human Resources Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment (Prior experience in food manufacturing or other consumer product industry is preferred.) or 5-7 years of previous experience combined with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

 Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.

 Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 Effective abilities in organizing and deductive thinking.

 Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office software, able to master other software. Prior PeopleSoft, Kronos, and SAP experience is preferred.

 Responsible for provisioning SAP access for authorized users.

 Able to communicate at any organizational level.

 Effective presentation skills.

 Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.

Working Conditions

The working environment includes both office and plant floor settings. Exposure to industrial noise, forklift traffic, moving mechanical parts, and temperature extremes occurs in operating areas of the plant.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$67,700-$93,100

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
