Job Description

We are looking for a skilled  People & Capability (P&C) Business Partner to join our team and provide specialist people advice and support to our NSWACT State leadership team in a dynamic and child-safe compliant environment. In this critical role, you will act as a trusted partner, delivering insights to enhance people-related business performance and implementing initiatives that drive capability and retention.

As a P&C Business Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor to operational leaders across the state, with responsibilities including:

  • Partnering closely with the State General Manager as a deeply trusted advisor, providing proactive P&C support across the state
  • Coaching and supporting leaders to effectively manage employee performance, engagement, workplace relationships, conduct matters, grievances and workplace investigations, including child-safe compliance matters
  • Providing expert P&C advice on employment legislation, modern awards, industrial instruments and JAG policies and procedures to support informed decision making and ensure compliance
  • Building trusted relationships with operational leaders, partnering on workforce planning, organisational change, employee engagement and retention initiatives
  • Analysing and interpreting people data providing insights into workforce trends including turnover, absenteeism, and employee relations matters to inform business decisions
  • Leading and collaborating on national P&C initiatives, including policy development, strategic projects and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need to succeed in this role:

  • Proven HR generalist experience across employee relations, performance management, organisational change and leadership coaching
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work requirements, modern Awards and industrial relations, with the ability to apply this knowledge to practical business outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, challenge constructively, and partner effectively with leaders at all levels
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability interpret people data, identify trends and translate insights into practical, commercially focused solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to navigate complex and sensitive people matters with professionalism and discretion
