Job Description

The Oshkosh Corporation Vocational segment leverages the power of our people, brands, and strength in technology to improve the safety, cleanliness, and productivity of our communities. The Vocational segment includes market leading brands McNeilus, Oshkosh S-Series, IMT, Pierce, MAXIMETAL, Oshkosh Airport Products, and Frontline Communications. Our purpose-built products serve our communities with carefully designed and engineered refuse trucks, front-discharge mixer trucks, fire apparatus, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting trucks, service vehicles, and command trucks. The Manufacturing Trainer will be responsible for teaching assembly processes and techniques related to pre-conditioned air units (PC Air) within the Oshkosh Vocational Segment. This training may occur in small groups or within a LIVE manufacturing environment. The trainer may work independently or with other trainers to develop and deliver effective instruction. The ideal candidate will establish strong communication and positive working relationships with all team members and students while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Your Impact:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide training on Assembly operations and techniques used in the pre conditioned air units.

  • Facilitate Level 1 and 2 Volterra High-Voltage training in accordance with safety and manufacturing standards.

  • Coach and support team members to perform tasks safely and effectively following company policies and safety rules.

  • Create and deliver online, written, and LIVE training curriculum and materials.

  • Conduct Training Needs and Task Analyses to identify skill gaps and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop training materials using the ADDIE model.

  • Demonstrate how to use JDE2 and navigate technical systems such as Pierce Truck Builder and ProPlanner.

  • Provide instruction on the proper use of assembly tools and equipment, including torque tools, cranes, and testing devices.

  • Train team members to interpret and follow standard work instructions within ProPlanner and report completion results accurately.

  • Guide trainees on quality inspection techniques, identifying and resolving discrepancies in assembly processes.

  • Build and maintain training props and visual aids for hands-on learning experiences.

  • Collaborate with leadership to continuously improve training programs and ensure alignment with manufacturing goals.

  • Must have the flexibility to work varied schedules to accommodate training needs across shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum five (5) years of assembly or manufacturing experience, preferably within vehicle or equipment assembly.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical assembly, electrical systems, and/or brazing.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Standout Qualifications:

  • Possess a current EPA Section 608 Certification or have the ability to obtain the certification.

  • Previous training or teaching experience in a manufacturing or technical environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher).

  • Proven curriculum development and facilitation experience.

  • Ability to read assembly prints, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Experience with ProPlanner and Pierce Truck Builder.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage learners.

  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative training methods and materials.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with remote leadership.

  • Familiarity with Volterra vehicle systems and High-Voltage Safety Standards.

  • Previous experience working on Pierce Product.

  • Previous experience working on PC Air units
