Job Description

Payroll & Workers’ Compensation Specialist
Hybrid Position| $55,000–$60,000

At Ascentria, our mission is powered by people—and taking care of our people starts with getting the details right. Behind every caregiver, every program, and every life we serve is a system built on accuracy, integrity, and trust. That’s where you come in.

You’re the one who notices what others miss. The professional who double-checks, cross-references, and makes sure nothing slips through the cracks. You don’t just process payroll—you protect our employees, ensure fairness, and uphold the confidence that keeps our organization running strong.

If you love structure, thrive on precision, and take pride in being the calm, trusted expert behind the scenes, this role was made for you.

As a cornerstone of our People & Culture team, you will own payroll accuracy and Workers’ Compensation administration for our multi-state workforce. Your work ensures every paycheck is right, every claim is handled with care and compliance, and every record is audit-ready—creating stability, confidence, and peace of mind across Ascentria.

Your Work Directly Impacts

  • Employee trust and well-being
  • Financial integrity
  • Risk management
  • Organizational credibility

What You’ll Be Known For

  • Running flawless bi-weekly payroll for 1,000+ employees across multiple states
  • Making Workers’ Compensation processes smooth, compliant, and human-centered
  • Turning complex regulations into simple, reliable systems
  • Keeping our HRIS clean, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Being the go-to expert when something is high-stakes or complicated

A Day in This Role Might Include

  • Processing payroll and validating reports with confidence
  • Coordinating wage replacement during Workers’ Comp leaves
  • Communicating with employees, managers, carriers, and partners
  • Catching potential issues before they become real problems
  • Improving workflows and strengthening internal controls
  • Creating clarity and calm where there could be confusion

This Role Is Perfect for Someone Who:

  • Loves accuracy and accountability
  • Thrives on ownership and responsibility
  • Enjoys systems, structure, and problem-solving
  • Knows payroll is about people, not just numbers
  • Wants their work to be meaningful and respected

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of payroll experience (multi-state strongly preferred)
  • Experience supporting Workers’ Compensation administration
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfort working in HRIS systems (UKG is a plus)
  • High integrity and respect for confidentiality
  • Confidence working independently and owning outcomes

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or multi-site environments
  • Payroll certification (FPC)
  • A passion for improving processes and building better systems

What You Get

  • A high-trust, high-impact role
  • A team that values expertise and professionalism
  • A mission-driven environment where your work truly matters
  • The satisfaction of knowing: because of you, everything runs right

This isn’t a background role. This is a cornerstone role.

If accuracy is your superpower and compliance is your craft, we can’t wait to meet you!
