The Payroll Transformation Specialist supports SD Guthrie’s payroll transformation activities across 11 countries. The role focuses on reviewing payroll information, validating payroll formulas and pay items, identifying payroll errors, and supporting the system migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. The position works closely with the Payroll Implementation Manager, Payroll Technical Lead, payroll vendors, and country teams to ensure payroll accuracy, smooth transitions, and timely completion of project deliverables.

This role requires strong APAC payroll knowledge along with global payroll understanding, as APAC countries form a major part of the transformation scope. The specialist is also responsible for reviewing Workday integration files and coordinating the transition of HR services during the project.


A. Payroll Review & Validation

  • Review payroll information to ensure accuracy.

  • Validate payroll formulas, pay items, and payroll rules.

  • Identify payroll errors and work with relevant teams to resolve them.

  • Support validation of payroll results during various testing cycles, including UT, SIT, UAT, and parallel runs.

B. SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA Migration

  • Support migration activities by validating payroll configuration and system outputs.

  • Review payroll data mapping, integration points, and payroll results in the new SAP S/4HANA environment.

  • Work with the Payroll Technical Lead to confirm accuracy of payroll logic and configuration.

C. Workday Integration Support

  • Review and understand Workday integration files sent to SAP S/4HANA.

  • Support identification of data issues within the integration layer.

  • Work with HRIS and technical teams to resolve mapping or data flow issues.

D. HR Services Transition

  • Support the transition of HR services from the outgoing provider to the incoming provider.

  • Coordinate with service providers to ensure smooth communication and handover of activities.

E. Documentation, Quality Control & Sign‑Offs

  • Ensure all project documents, checklists, deliverables, and sign-off forms are completed accurately.

  • Track outstanding items and follow up with teams across different countries.

  • Maintain proper documentation for audit and governance purposes.

F. Vendor Coordination

  • Liaise with payroll service providers to manage daily activities and ensure timely delivery.

  • Coordinate with providers to resolve issues and ensure data quality.

  • Monitor vendor performance and escalate concerns where necessary.

G. Project Timeline & Issue Management

  • Monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables for all 11 countries.

  • Work with multiple stakeholders to ensure project tasks stay on schedule.

  • Escalate issues promptly following the project’s escalation framework.

H. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, HRIS, technical teams, and country payroll teams.

  • Provide clear updates, highlight risks, and support regional coordination.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Any)

  • Experience participating in payroll migration or transformation projects.

  • 6 to 10 years of hands-on experience in HR and Payroll, preferably supporting payroll operations, payroll processing, or HR services.

  • Experience working with a payroll vendor or as part of a vendor team, especially in activities such as payroll processing, service delivery, or system transition.

  • Direct involvement in testing cycles such as UT, SIT, UAT, and parallel run phases during payroll implementation or migration projects.

  • Practical experience with SAP S/4HANA payroll or SAP payroll migration work.

  • Able to work closely with local HR teams or end users who are responsible for payroll, and capable of guiding them through testing, data checks, and issue resolution.

  • Exposure to multi-country payroll operations, especially in APAC. (must-have)

  • Preferred / Good-to-Have Experience

  • Experience reading or understanding Workday integration files, especially files sent from Workday to SAP S/4HANA.

  • Knowledge of SAP ECC payroll and how it differs from SAP S/4HANA payroll.

  • Background in project management or participation in project coordination work, even if informal.

  • Experience supporting HR or payroll system transitions involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, or countries.
