We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Supervisor to lead day-to-day payroll operations across multiple states and legal entities. Position Summary

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day payroll processing and compliance activities for employees across 50 U.S. states and multiple legal entities within Dayforce. This role oversees a team of two Payroll Specialists, serves as an escalation point for payroll-related issues, and partners closely with the Director of Payroll to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations while delivering an exceptional employee experience.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Process payroll for assigned employee groups across multiple states and legal entities.
  • Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve errors before payroll distribution.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for payroll inquiries and processing issues.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including California wage and hour requirements.
  • Partner with the Director of Payroll to implement legislative changes and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, payroll policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support payroll reporting, audits, and special projects.
  • Develop and maintain payroll standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
  • Supervise, coach, and support two Payroll Specialists to ensure high performance and cross-training.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
  • Provide timely and professional support to employees, managers, and business partners.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing; California payroll experience required.
  • Hands-on experience with Dayforce (Ceridian) payroll processing.
  • Experience supporting payroll across multiple legal entities.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax withholding, wage and hour laws, and payroll regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop team members.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly.
  • Experience working in a high-growth or multi-entity organization preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
