NoAs a Payroll Specialist Senior, you will ensure we pay our employees correctly, efficiently, and on time each pay period. You will help employees, managers, and timekeepers understand payroll processes and procedures to maintain consistency and clarity. You will participate in day-to-day operational payroll tasks and support longer term projects on process improvement.

Job Duties:

  • Support all aspects of payroll including gross to net calculations, deductions, garnishments, general ledger posting, levies, support orders, multi-state, and withholding taxes.
  • Prepare, analyze, identify, and resolve payroll exceptions by conducting bi-weekly payroll audits to meet sensitive payroll deadlines.
  • Load payroll batches into system, review and record payroll deductions, garnishments, review and approve direct deposits, cross team validation of data entry and meet all departmental critical deadlines. In addition,inputs and verifies automatic standard time records for severances, emergency payments and other manual input for processing on demand payments.
  • Respond and prioritize various payroll inquiries with accuracy and a sense of urgency.
  • Process payroll biweekly and monthly integrations, as well as preparation and sending payments to outside vendors.
  • Uploads time records, deductions, and other files to the Human Resources and Payroll system using applicable software.
  • Contribute to continuing improvements to payroll processes to increase efficiencies and enhancements to Workday payroll.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to address Workday system issues and upgrade, suggest enhancements to streamline the process minimizing manual effort.
  • Research and find creative solutions to solve payroll issues in an increasingly more complex technical environment.
  • Reviews and analyzes current payroll and payroll related benefits and tax procedures.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  • Utilizes various websites to verify local tax to be withheld and update application systems as necessary; to assure compliance with Pennsylvania Act Participates in the definition of user system requirements and provides recommendations to management concerning the selection, development, and design and implementation of system features that will provide cost-effective strategies to meet department and organizational needs.
  • Processes biweekly, monthly, and off cycle payroll cycles and all payroll related transactions for the organization.
  • Review payroll inputs from various internal sources, to ensure accurate payroll processing for multiple payrolls.
  • Reviews and recommends appropriation action on user requests for services, ranging from explanation of systems functionality and activities to the understanding and analysis of user needs, preparation of reports, or automation of processes.
  • Updates Payroll policies and procedures and other system manuals including distributions lists, versions, and Payroll web page.
  • Maintains communication with customer to update progress resolution and status and then verifies customer is satisfied with resolution.
  • Completes all manual Payroll tasks as defined by the payroll department.
