We are seeking a Payroll Specialist III to manage the day-to-day operations of payroll processing for all Deaconess employees. This position is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and timely delivery of bi-weekly payrolls and will serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries. You’ll play a key role in handling payroll for multiple employee types, performing audits, and resolving issues, all while supporting the financial needs of various hospital departments as assigned.
As a Payroll Specialist III, you’ll process weekly and biweekly payrolls for hourly, salaried, and non-exempt employees. You’ll be responsible for reviewing, preparing, and verifying pay data, processing payroll calculations, and resolving any payroll-related issues or discrepancies. Additionally, you’ll collaborate on process improvement initiatives and assist with the transition to automated payroll systems.
What You Will Do
· Process weekly and biweekly payrolls for hourly, salaried, and non-exempt employees, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
· Review and audit payroll data, resolve errors or discrepancies, and ensure compliance with payroll policies.
· Generate required payroll reports for processing and auditing purposes.
· Investigate and resolve payroll issues related to payments, wages, deductions, and other payroll items.
· Respond to payroll inquiries via email, providing clear and timely support to employees.
· Support process improvements and assist in transitioning from manual to automated payroll systems.
· Back-up other Payroll Specialists, including those responsible for garnishments, tax levies, child support, and other deductions.
What You Will Need
· High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field — Preferred
· 3+ years of payroll experience, including knowledge of payroll systems and HR software — Required
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions like VLookups, Pivot Tables) — Required
· Knowledge of payroll processing, audits, and issue resolution — Required
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data with discretion — Required
· Strong communication skills with a customer-focused attitude and professionalism — Required
· Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team — Required
