Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Payroll Specialist with German to join us at Honeywell, in Bucharest, where you will be responsible for the accurate and timely execution of end-to-end payroll operations for the Germany. This role serves as a key liaison between employees, HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors, ensuring payroll accuracy, statutory compliance, and an excellent employee experience. The position requires strong knowledge of payroll processes, data validation, payroll controls, and German payroll legislation.

This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute monthly payroll activities for the Germany in accordance with established payroll calendars and service-level agreements.
  • Collect, review, validate, and process payroll inputs including salary changes, bonuses, allowances, overtime, leave, terminations, and one-time payments.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and validation checks to ensure accuracy and completeness before payroll sign-off.
  • Coordinate payroll processing activities with external payroll vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Support off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, retroactive calculations, and special payments.
  • Review payroll inputs from Payroll systems, and other approved sources.
  • Conduct payroll audits, reconciliations, and exception reporting.
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies and drive timely resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and payroll governance standards.
  • Maintain payroll documentation and audit trails.
  • Manage payroll-related inquiries and cases through designated ticketing systems.
  • Provide timely and professional support regarding payslips, deductions, taxes, pension contributions, and payroll corrections.
  • Partner closely with HR, Finance, Benefits, Time & Attendance teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Escalate complex payroll issues and drive resolution with vendors and internal teams.
  • Ensure payroll processing complies with German tax, social security, pension, and employment legislation.
  • Support statutory reporting requirements and year-end activities.
  • Monitor legislative changes and collaborate with vendors to implement required updates.
  • Assist with internal and external payroll audits.
  • Work closely with payroll service providers to ensure service delivery, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Track payroll incidents, service issues, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in payroll reviews and governance meetings with vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and employee experience.
  • Support payroll transformation, automation, and process standardization initiatives.
  • Contribute to implementation of new systems, interfaces, and payroll-related projects.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and knowledge articles.

Key skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Experience processing payroll for the Germany.
  • Understanding of German payroll legislation, taxation, social insurance, and pension administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Fluent English and German (written and spoken).
