ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the UK HR Director, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of payroll and people administration processes, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with legislation and company policies. The role manages pension administration, employee benefits, expenses, mileage claims, and driver compliance records, while providing expert support to employees and driving continuous improvement across HR operations.

Salary: £40,000 FTE

Permanent 30 hours per week

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process for approximately 290 employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, bonuses, overtime, statutory payments, and payroll changes.

  • Administer pension schemes, employee benefits, and payroll deductions, ensuring compliance with auto-enrolment and pension governance requirements.

  • Oversee employee expenses and mileage claims, validating submissions in line with company policy and HMRC regulations.

  • Maintain driver compliance records, including licences, permits, and associated documentation, ensuring ongoing legal and company policy compliance.

  • Ensure adherence to HMRC, PAYE, National Insurance, GDPR, and other statutory requirements, supporting year-end payroll activities and audits.

  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll, pension, and benefits queries, providing professional and confidential support to employees.

  • Produce payroll and people-related reports, maintain data integrity across HR and payroll systems, and support Finance and HR with reporting, analysis, and audits.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, compliance, efficiency, and automation.

ABOUT YOU

Essential

  • Proven experience managing end-to-end UK payroll in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments, pensions, and HMRC regulations.

  • Experience administering pension schemes, payroll reconciliations, and compliance activities.

  • Experience processing employee expenses and mileage claims.

  • Proficiency in payroll, HRIS, and reporting systems, with advanced Excel skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Desirable

  • Experience with driver compliance, fleet administration, or licence management processes.

  • Knowledge of risk management, internal controls, and audit requirements.

  • Experience using ADP, Workday, Concur, Egencia, Traxmiles, and/or TTC Continuum.

  • CIPP qualification or equivalent payroll certification.

  • Experience working within Manufacturing, HR Operations, Finance, or Shared Services environments.
