The opportunity
Our Finance team sits at the centre of Netwealth’s operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, from financial reporting through to how we pay and support our people.
We’re looking for a Payroll Specialist to join the team in a full-time, permanent role. This is a pivotal position responsible for the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless experience for employees.
You’ll be stepping into a role that is both operational and collaborative. You’ll partner closely with Finance and People & Culture, navigate complex payroll scenarios, and play a key role in maintaining trust through getting the detail right.
This role would suit someone who enjoys ownership, takes pride in precision, and wants to be part of a team that values agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Include:
End-to-end payroll processing across regular, off-cycle, and termination payments
Ensuring accurate calculation of salaries, overtime, allowances, deductions, and back payments
Managing payroll compliance across tax, superannuation, STP, and industrial relations requirements
Interpreting awards, entitlements, and statutory obligations
Maintaining payroll data and employee records in Workday
Reconciling payroll accounts, including PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and WorkCover
Supporting month-end activities, reporting, and payroll journals
Administering employee benefits and salary sacrifice arrangements (e.g. novated leases, commuter club)
Responding to payroll queries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
Supporting audits, year-end processes, and regulatory submissions
About You
You’re a payroll specialist who understands the importance of both accuracy and experience. You’re confident managing end-to-end payroll, comfortable navigating complexity, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
Strong working knowledge of Fair Work legislation, superannuation, and payroll tax
Experience interpreting awards and employment entitlements
Solid understanding of Single Touch Payroll (STP) and ATO compliance requirements
Experience with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and year-end processes
Strong attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a range of stakeholders
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
Experience with Workday (strongly preferred)
