Payroll Specialist

Join our team in supporting essential payroll services that help ensure employees across campus are paid accurately and on time. This role plays a key part in payroll operations by assisting with payroll processing, customer support, time tracking, compliance reporting, and payroll systems administration.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Support bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing using Workday
  • Process payroll changes, adjustments, audits, and corrections
  • Monitor payroll workflows and ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Assist employees with payroll-related questions, direct deposit, taxes, and W-2 inquiries
  • Support Workday time tracking and resolve time entry exceptions
  • Maintain payroll documentation and compliance records
  • Prepare payroll reports and resolve payroll processing discrepancies
  • Provide backup support for payroll operations and special payroll processes
  • Collaborate with HR and campus departments to resolve payroll issues

What qualifies you for this role:

Required:

  • Required – an associate’s degree or minor in accounting, human resources, a related area or two years of payroll or similar professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with accuracy and professionalism

Preferred:

  • Preferred – associate’s degree in accounting or human resources plus two years professional experience in payroll.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a payroll office
  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations
  • Experience supporting non-U.S. resident employees
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft HCM or similar payroll systems

Pay Level: 49

Typical Starting Pay: $22.50-$29.25
