Summary:
The Payroll Specialist supports the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll and related records. This position performs routine payroll transactions, audits timekeeping records, assists employees with payroll questions, and ensures payroll changes are entered correctly in accordance with organizational procedures. The Payroll Coordinator works closely with Human Resources and Finance to maintain data integrity while delivering responsive customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Process payroll transactions including earnings, differentials, deductions, and adjustments
- Enter and verify employee changes including new hires, status changes, and terminations
- Audit timecards for completeness and accuracy; follow up with departments as needed
- Assist with payroll corrections and retroactive adjustments
- Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation
- Respond to employee payroll questions regarding pay, deductions, and timekeeping
- Monitor benefit deductions and notify appropriate staff of discrepancies
- Prepare standard payroll reports
- Assist with payroll reconciliation and balancing activities
- Support garnishment and tax processing under direction of Payroll Administrator
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information
- Assist with payroll system testing and upgrades (Paycom preferred)
- Support audits by gathering documentation
- Promote teamwork, service excellence, and patient safety standards
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent requirement.  Associate Degree in relevant field of study (Business Admin, Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, etc.)

Experience:
- Three to five years payroll processing experience for large employer with multi-department, multi-shift workforce.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of payroll processes and best practices
- Familiarity with Payroll and Timekeeping systems, specifical Paycom, ADP, UKG, Paylocity, Workday, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel at intermediate to advanced skill required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to follow established procedures
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Good organizational and follow-through skills
- Ability to meet recurring deadlines
