The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Administrative Services - Payroll Services is recruiting
for a Payroll Service Supervisor located in Anchorage or Juneau, Alaska!
Join the Department of Fish & Game's (DFG) Human Resource team as the leader of the Payroll Team. This position manages and directs the DFG Payroll Team and payroll functions. You will be supervising Payroll staff and exercising independent judgement to assure regular and timely payroll cycle processing, including all related personnel actions, and related reporting functions are completed accurately and timely. Additionally, resolving highly complex payroll, leave and compensation issues, creating section initiatives, and training. Under the general direction of the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP), this position provides assistance and support to DFG’s managers, supervisors, and employees of Fish & Game.

This position is located in Juneau or Anchorage.
Juneau DFG Headquarters is located on the Juneau Downtown Boardwalk and Gastineau Channel Waterfront. This facility is in the heart of downtown with ample amenities nearby.
The Anchorage Fish and Game office is near the Chugach Mountains, with easy access to nearby hiking trails and the scenic Anchorage coastline, offering staff a close connection to Alaska’s natural landscapes.
DFG supports work-life balance by offering a hybrid in-office and telework scheduling after successful training period. Work is conducted independently, but with support and general supervision from the HR Business Partner. Working hours can be flexibly scheduled between the standard operating hours, Monday-Friday.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in payroll services, human resource management, business administration, supporting management in running an organization/enterprise or supporting professionals working in human resources (such as recruitment, payroll, classification and compensation, employee and labor-management relations, employer provided benefit programs, employment law compliance, or employee training).
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
